First Lady Michelle Obama launched Let’s Move to fight the epidemic of childhood obesity. In response, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has joined some 50 other faith and community organizations in supporting this national initiative.
Let’s Move Day
Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled. Nearly one in three children in America is overweight or obese. A child who is obese at the ages of 10-13 has an 80% chance of obesity as an adult.
We are passionate about bringing awareness to, and educating about how to live healthfully and happily. Building awareness about childhood obesity in the U.S., and living a healthy lifestyle by incorporating exercise, fruits and vegetables.
This special event is designed to engage our community (especially our families and children) in working together to fight childhood obesity. Our goal is to get as many people possible involved in physical activity on that day.
The event consists of a 5K run/walk followed by a healthy brunch that includes an appetizing array of fruits, breads and spreads.
Adults and kids of all ages can participate and enjoy an energizing atmosphere that is invigorating and uplifting.
We want to provide a fun, safe environment for families to exercise together. Through this event we will be bringing attention to the necessity of a healthy, active lifestyle which includes quality, nutritious food and daily exercise.
